CBC Radio recently had a documentary on the coaching industry. Most of the buyers were getting stuff they already knew. Most of the coaches were not making an income better than their buyers. The few successful coaches were better marketers than coaches. According the documentary producers, there is not much value in coaching.
I had considered approaching TED talks to market my TDG. But I saw two obstacles: 1) I did not think I could explain this idea in 15 minutes, and 2) I am not a polished speaker. At that time, I thought TED had some pretty interesting (and entertaining) people on their forum. From what you are saying, it seems the quality has been watered down.
Medium contributor Monica Harris was on a TED talk. She gave a good talk, but I don't think she recovered travel costs from her book sales.
