Thank you for your encouragement on my UBC article. We do need more paths to attaining an education than our current assembly-line approach, which bribes students with sports, art, and socialization to learn math and reading. Until then, we have work within the existing system, which serves probably 70% of students reasonably well. But that statistic might be debatable given our current political chaos these days.

I could tweak and re-issue the UBC article, and maybe I will. However, I am a bottom writer on Medium. This month I have re-published articles I wrote 10 to 20 years ago. Twenty articles so far--and only four broke 100 claps. A UBC re-issue is likely to get a poor result.

My main topic is an alternative democracy, and Medium readers don't seem to like this idea. Hence, that is why I am a bottom writer.

About two years ago, I was going to put the TDG (my alternative democracy) on the shelf to collect dust (again). But life circumstances collided in strange ways: it would have been impractical for me to find a full-time job. So to occupy spare time and energy, I continued working on promoting the TDG. Not much happened in the last two years.

I am currently re-working my TDG website, which will include copying most of my Medium articles to the TDG blog. That way, when a few people get interested, my 300 or so articles are all in one place--and easy to access.

As for David, he is not in a good way. He started tuning out of school in Grade 8. In Grade 10, he started tuning out of his family and friends. He dropped out in Grade 11. While he is not into alcohol or drugs, he has become a hermit; an angry hermit. He has a little contact with his mother. None for me. He has been staying with extended family, but stays mostly in his bedroom. He works in food delivery, which pays poorly for his time and his car.

I spent a lot of time with David, both academically and recreationally. I really thought I had the right nature to guide him through his high school diploma. I really thought I could override his mother's instinct for not dealing with mental illness. I was wrong.

We should have tried the medication.
