Thank you for your thoughtful response. I appreciate most comments as they help build my repertoire of quips for later.

In 2015, Canadian prime minister Steven Harper saw his party was high in the polls, so he called an election a little early. Something happened in that six-week campaign. Harper's party went from 170 seats to 99. Liberals were in government.

Then Mr. Harper--a 10-year prime minister at this time--did something totally amazing. He stepped aside for Mr. Trudeau and his new party.

History is full of political leaders who refused to step aside when it becomes obvious they should step aside. Human nature is to cling to power until it is dragged out.

Western democracy is so amazing. We had to learn how to do have our leaders step aside when the ballot box has spoken.

And this is why I think we can learn how to make the TDG work. It won't come easy or quickly. But we can learn.

------------

I think it will take 10 to 20 years to learn the new skills. When the new way becomes part of the culture, it will be hard for the toxic forces to take over. In fact, more people will realize that collaboration is better than individualism; more people will be attracted to the TDG and its principles.

Building the TDG will require about 10 hours a month. A small amount of time.

But here's the kicker: If we don't spend that time building the TDG because we "know" nefarious forces are going to take over sooner or later, then the future is certain that nefarious forces will take over.

The success of the TDG is uncertain. But if we start building, we just might show the world how collaborative people can make politics work.
