Thanks for the feedback.
I've got a couple of months to finish up my current TDG project. If no traction happens by the end of March, it'll be time to put this project on the shelf (again).
I have dedicated my TDG book to my uncle "Alois Volek." He was ordained as a Catholic priest shortly before the communists took over. He was deemed an enemy of the state and assigned cleanup work at a chemical factory. Despite his oppression, he remained a very human person.
The communists used both fear and carrots to keep their population under control. When my grandfather returned for his first visit, he was followed the entire two weeks by a car with two agents (and three shifts a day). No direct interaction, but my grandfather's relatives probably had some fears.
I'm not sure our current politicians have any clue what needs to be done. They are too busy chasing votes and rich people's money. A TDG would provide better focus for our elected representatives.
Despite my 12 years working in the Canadian petroleum industry, I've always believe we needed a very hefty fuel tax to reduce fossil fuel consumption. This would have changed our materialistic patterns, while still providing fulfilling lives. Had we done this simple step in 1980, our climate change scenario would be much diminished today. But western democracies cannot see that far ahead, let alone take action.
