Thanks for the TDG plug, Scott. It is frustrating from my end that so many Medium people recognize that something is terribly wrong with western democracy, but they can't seem to look beyond it. Anyways, I shall continue to plug along--as time and energy permit.

I recently read a book from a prominent political scientist. She had ideas, but they were still under the umbrella of the poltical party(ies).

Back in my political days circa 1990, I recognized that there really is no such thing as political accountability. The public may be able to focus on one or two issues--and even hold their representatives accountable on those issues. But there are hundreds of bills going through our parliaments all the time. There is no way we citizens can monitor most of our representatives actions, prepare a checklist, and see how that list stacks up with what we want.

Last January, I .prepared a PS article on this matter:

https://medium.com/politically-speaking/the-myth-of-political-accountability-6030c7249f52

The above political scientist still believes elections keep the politicans accountable to the public's needs and wants. Pah!

I won't be reading many of political science books in the near future.

I have an article in the works about the famous folk song "Where have all the flowers gone?" It is a little TDG heavy. Do you want it?
