Thanks. I had encountered that term here and there in my amateur investigations, not sure what it it meant. The linguistics sites on Wikipedia are a bit beyond me.

Do you have any thoughts on IPA? I find it difficult to use. Slovak has a phonetic alphabet, and I thought a better phonetic alphabet could be constructed with some of those features.
