The 1/10 tithing practice is indeed specious.

I would be a litte careful with saying which churches have tithing and which don't. I'm pretty sure the Catholic Church does not force its members to tithe. But there are churches that require the church member to show a higher-up the tax return to show the proper tithes have been made.

And then they are the charlatans who are really good a fleecing their flock for more than 1/10.
