The 2016 election was weird. I gave each candidate a 50% of winning (a few months before). The polls were saying Ms. Clinton had a slight lead. How that could be interpreted as a landslide is beyond me.

But generally, the public has a difficult time with probabilities. It's really hard to discuss an issue around different outcomes if we take Path X.
