The ability to win elections has little to do with capacity for governance. I had seen a few too many examples in my six-year political career. So we shouldn't be surprised if this story is mostly true.
But please indulge me for a bit. I am curious as to why people can easily see how western democracy fails so often, and yet still believe it can be fixed?
If the western world were a trucking company, it would be using 60-year old trucks to deliver cargo. The trucks work fine and can be repaired. We only need to find the right drivers and mechanics. When the trucks break down too often, we just fire the drivers and mechanics and hire new ones. But to replace the trucks, let's not think about that!
Why?
