The Chinese doctors who first reported Covid-19 told us that it was more transmissible and more lethal than the regular flus. But the doctors were not saying that we had another bubonic plague or Spanish flu on our hands. Two million deaths worldwide were predicted, if I recall correctly.
You and I may agree that the shutdown we have experienced was overkill.
I am 61. In May 2019, I contacted the regular flu. It took about a month to get rid of the cough/sore throat/body pains. Then another two months to get my energy back. Each flu seems to be getting worse recovery-wise. I'm not sure Covid-19 will be a light disease for me. So I am taking measures to reduce my risk.
I used to be 25 years old--and rarely got colds/flus. I can see that person being frustrated with the Covid lockdown. There is a mental health fallout.
This is what I like about Sweden's approach. Give the people the facts and let them make their own decisions. Make mandatory actions to reduce the risk for the most affected.
