The collapse may not be as bad as we think it will be. There will be hardships and more unfairness. Most of us will survive. But there won't be much fun.

As we are going through this process of disintegration, some of us should be thinking of what kind of society we want after the dust settles. If no one does, then we should expect another cycle of inept governance.

We need to build while the current order is falling apart.
