The economics behind RVs and campers in indeed appalling. A sign that some of us have too much money.

In Alberta, fees to park an RV in a nice spot are $50 a day. A good hotel is $150 (probably less in Covid-19 days). So spend $50,000 or more to save $100 a day for a couple of weeks a year . . . . . . .

But I'm a tenter and a road tripper. First is to expose the kids to a little hardship and different experience. Second is that it is nice to get out of town for a few days and take in some tourist sites. I find it relaxing. But the key words are "a few days". So cross-continent trip for this guy.
