The elephant in this room that the article fails to address is that a significant minority of Americans like what Mr. Trump is doing and regard this whole impeachment process as a witchhunt.

In the Nixon impeachment process, public support for the president was slowly waning. But not for Mr. Trump. At best, this impeachment might cause a loss of a percentage point or two, which may be enough to affect the election. But expect the bulk of the T base to stay intact — and remain a political force.

The question nobody seems to be asking is why an impeachable character like Mr. Trump got elected in the first place.

If nothing else, the impeachment process should be a sign that it’s time for USA to abandon its version of western democracy.
