The logic of dooming/prepping kind of escapes me.
I have a friend who earned some good money in the Canadian oilpatch. He has bought "his cabin in the woods" about an hour northeast of Edmonton. His cabin is well stocked for the apocalypse.
A lot of time and money went into that cabin.
If the apocalypse comes--and somehow central Alberta kind of survives, he and his wife will be in that cabin. Except that cabin will be a target for those roving bands of marauders looking for useful resources. My friend will be spending most of his day defending his cabin.
Statistically speaking, I give most of the doomer/prepper types about six months longer than the rest of us if the apocalypse comes.
It seems more logical to invest time and money into bettering our current civilization than to "wish" for a Mad Max lifestyle.
BTW, I have an alternative democracy we can build. That is better use of time and money than prepping.
