The lower-level Republicans have turned to a solution that is really not going to help them out.

The Atlantic article has shown us a reason. The New USA really hasn't brought the lower classes more prosperity and opportunity in the past few decades. Those belong to the upper middle classes and higher. When people don't feel hope for themselves and their kids, they congregate into a big social force. The Republicans who wear nice clothes have capitalized on that to get power.

Part of this frustration is also caused by having our pursuit of happiness tied to materialism. But again those values came from forces looking for profit.
