The multiple parties in Canada is a bit of a mystery to me. In my mind, our Westminster system should eventually evolve to a two-party system, as a vote for a less viable party becomes a vote
for the worse of two evils.. I cannot explain why Canada has had more than two viable parties.
Another thing that I think we do better is our legislative processes. We are often reworking previous legislation, fixing what is not working right. The Americans, on the other hand, seem to be stuck with bad laws for several decades. But maybe things are more responsive at the state levels.
I noticed your response to Ms. Cee. Legally, Americans vote for the electors. Emotionally, they vote for one of the two names on the ballot. In a like manner, Canadas legally vote for one of the candidates in their riding. And a few do vote this way. But far more Canadian voters vote for the party leader or for their favored traditional ideology than the quality of their local candidate. For example, the Conservatives could run a fence post in my riding and still win.
