The polls have been saying 50/50 even when Mr. Biden was in the running. They are now giving Ms. Harris a slight edge. But the media has a vested interest in a tight race. Maybe the Democrats have a different vested interest in reporting a coin flip: making sure the soft support gets out to vote.

I've been wrong in my political forecasting before. But a big upset is more plausible than six weeks ago.
