The same fellow who wrote "The Matthew Effect" also had an article about "when to stop chasing silly projects." I have to wonder about myself in this regard.

I watched an interview with Reba McIntyre. She admitted that there are better country singers than her. Her difference was her willingness to take that long journey through those early years to gain recognition---and then after to keep her name in the spotlight. She missed much of her kids growing up. Many weddings and funerals not attended.

For a year, I watched Dr. Phil. One episode has an aspriring country singer who wanted to go big time--and her husband was getting tired of supporting that dream. Dr. Phil had her perform. I could see that she did not have the edge to go big time. The two music experts Dr. Phil brought on set said the same thing. The lady firmly believed she needed to continue chasing her dream. All the connections and hustling and selling her soul were not going to help her.

She could have been a reasonable bar act. Something to be creative, but not too taxing on the family. Balance!

Unfortunately, the world teaches us that we should never quit.

"Stop chasing silly project". At least I'm not neglecting my family. And I am having a little fun.

I'm putting out my fifth book soon. Either it moves this project forward OR it is time to put my project back on the shelf, for the 5th time in 25 years.

Have fun with your writing. See what happens. That's all I can say.
