The T-72 was also built in Martin, Slovakia. The factory was a crown jewel in the Czechoslovak Communist Party. But after the Velvet Revolution, this company was found to be heavily in debt, having exported many tanks to Iraq, which did not pay its bills. The factory was one of the first communist factories to be shut down, sparking the separation between the Czech and Slovak halves of this country.
