The title pretty much explained how Ms. Cheney could affect the result to me. I had not thought of this "campaign only in red states" before.

Here are my quibbles with this article:

1) The original intent of the Constitution was to have the state legislators elect their electors who would be sent to Washington to elect the president. So while this article rails against the legislatures going in this direction as being "undemocratic," the founding fathers had good reasons for electing the president in this way.

2) Like it on not, Mr. Trump was a viable contender in 2016. He was a viable contender in 2020. If alive and robust, he will likely be a viable contender in 2024. We should not blame the electoral college. Until the USA can change these rules, the EC is the rules.

3) Why should history be decided by 4 or 5 states with razor thin margins?

4) Why should history be decided by those who hire the better professionals to get those razor thin margns?

We need a new way.
