The world has many political boundaries that make little sense in terms of culture, economics, and geography.
We should have some mechanism where adjacent jurisdictions can join a neighbor--and if that neighbor wants them.
But our current versions of democracy are too fossilized to make these changes. This comes from the time when boundaries were set, there were usually greed white men making the decisions, trying to ensure their neighbor did not get too big.
