The Year Fascism Swept the Globe — and Nobody Much Noticed
Catchy title. But I think lots of people are noticing → especially Umair’s readers.
Here’s Umair’s solution:
I used to say that fascism would define our adult lives. I wasn’t kidding. I’m still not kidding. This is not a drill. It’s happening here, only this time here is everywhere. Most of us are still too willfully blind to see it — even while it grins, dances, and burns the house down, right before our unbelieving eyes. (And before you ask me what to do about it, the answer’s simple. Understand it. Just understand it. And the rest will follow naturally, from a little bit of wisdom.)
I do have a solution for Umair readers. But let’s put that aside. Here is my conjecture of what I think Umair vaguely wants us to do:
- Work to elect Ms. Warren as the D candidate.
- Vote D in the next election.
- Protest, protest, protest. Use every Saturday to find a march somewhere.
- Get on various conservative forums to promote Umair’s work (or similar thinking) to conservatives. Don’t stay in comfortable echo chambers, get out their and hammer at the logic of conservatives. Maybe we can reach a few of them to see the error of their ways.
- Start a political movement to take away the right to vote for those citizens who do not obviously have intellect to vote wisely.
There are what comes to my mind when Umair says: “The rest will follow naturally.” I can’t see conventional political participation actually effecting real societal change.
My solution is that 1% of us needs to get off our butts, gather some neighbors together, and start writing some new local constitutions which will eventually transform into national constitutions. We need to learn how to work together — and not insist our knowledge, experience, and wisdom is superior to those who disagree with us.
