There are about six different themes in this essay. Each theme could be its own essay. But this article shows how the circle keeps coming around. Great job.
I will just touch on one theme. My father, in his retirement, used to go to coffee shops (not the fancy coffee stuff) and socialize with older men. They called themselves “The Senators” because politics is mostly what they would talk about. While many of them had served on community boards, none of them were ever elected into government and being accountable to public. They really never had that experience of what it really takes to really change things.
But the way that they talked, one would think being in government is simple. Get elected → then do the things you said you were going to do. This simplicity, is fostered by the political parties. Keep the message simple, get the votes.
Mr. Trump exemplifies this simplicity. His style of messaging that “government is real simple” resonates with a lot of citizens who believe government is indeed simple.
We need a different system of governance, one that does not perpetuate government is simple.
BTW, I too believe we to move more towards a more anarchistic (philosophical speaking) society. But for that society to function, many of us need to grow up a lot more. Until then, we need government.
