There are traditions we follow, even though they are not in the official rules.

Nixon had a great concession speech after he lost the close election to Kennedy. He could have said nothing. He could have claimed voter fraud and looked for cheap ways to find extra votes. Once the ballot box has spoken, the loser departs gracefully--and makes a little a little show of it. That is a guardrail.
