There are two kinds of Republicans:

1) The Republicans who wear nice clothes. Currently they are playing both sides of the fence. They are keeping themselves electable as best they know how, but they also see the possibility of an oligarchy in the near future. They want to be on the good side of that oligarchy if it happens. And, paradoxically, positioning oneself for the oligarchy does not seem to matter too much in the elections. The nice clothes Republicans have a pretty good thing going for them.

2) The Republicans who wear jeans, t-shirts, and ball caps. Too many of them are ready to be the foot soldiers for the oligarchy. Mr. Trump need only say the word for direct action. What these Republicans don't see is that when the oligarchy is in place--with police and military under control, the nice clothes Republicans will throw the jeans-t-shirt-ball-cap Republicans under the bus.
