There has been a cascading of "crimes" in the past decades leading to where we are today.
You might like another Medium contributor by the name of Alan Milne Lees. He advocates for a direct democracy------but he also advocates for an electorate that is smart enough to vote wisely. He would cull about 85% of the voters. The 15% wise would make all the decisions.
I'm not ready to give up on representative democracy. We just need to shift their loyalty from the political party and political career towards being of service for the people they govern. I have a system that should bring service back into public life.
