There is a lot more drama to be played out in this American political theatre. If the fly-over states are fairly united, they might not want West Coast and New English to secede--just like Lincoln did not want the south to secede from the Union.

Anyways, there's not much anyone on Medium can do about writing this history. The forces are in place to make whatever is going to happen to happen.
