There is a whole psychology behind belonging, which includes membership in all religious groups. This is neither good nor bad, as those of us without religious background “congregate” to other kinds of social groups.

But I think it is important for all of us to understand why we want to belong so bad.

About once a year, I get approached by JWs. My response is that I encounter all sorts of people from different religions in my community. But I never see any JWs working as volunteers, trying to make our community a better place for everyone.

“We volunteer a lot” is their counter response. But I counter that volunteering in Kingdom Hall is not making the world a better place. End of discussion.
