There needs to be royalty split between the writer and pub owner. Otherwise the pub owner is doing this for nothing. An 80/20 split seems reasonable to me.

In this way, pub owner have a financial reason for creating a pub the way they want. If they are successful in finding readers, that is good for Medium and for the readers looking for quality work.
