There was a sci-fi TV series circa 1975, called "Space 1999."

The premise of this show is a nuclear bomb exploded on the Moon, opposite side of Moonbase Alpha. THe explosion jettisoned the moon out of Earth's Orbit and Moonbase Alpha was marooned from Earth. They had to do things with whatever resources they had left--and encountered all sorts of strange aliens after they left the solar system.

I guess you are saying the expulsion of the moon is not likely. Another myth shattered!
