This a great article. I could have highlighted and commented on many things.
I particularly like this quote because it bucks the myth that the USA--and other western democratic countries--somehow always had a strong middle class. This was not true. Before 1945, many of us were working hard for a subsistence income. The middle class really did not come into being until after WW2.
I really hope that we don't go through some kind of revolution to get our "reset." Revolutions are hard on the plebes, as well as the elites on the wrong side.
And should we trust that the victors of the revolution will create a better society?
