This essay was a bit of a surprise. I had thought if any Medium writer could make a living stepping outside of Medium, it would be Benjamin Sledge.

Even with the award, he is still struggling.

Anyways, I like the quote "Write because you must."

For me, there is a certain satisfaction that my ideas are "out there." Having them locked between my ears is indeed kind of painful.
