This is a mystery around the world. People need to eat and pay rent. I can't understand why there is a labor shortage.

In Canada, unemployment benefits are about 50% of normal wages. So there is incentive not to sit on the couch. But something happened in our psychology.

Canada is also facing a truck driver shortage and a few other occupations. If we were truly a free market society, wages should be raised to attract workers, right?

But how are peopled holding themselves together financially? $12 an hour is better than $0. Mystery, indeed!

Maybe COVID has taught us new ways to live without so much money? Still tough!
