This is an interesting correlation, even though it seems counter-intuitive.
The UK example seems to be going aagainst this hypothesis, but we are in early stages of this kind of political change.
One thing I have noticed is that non-powerful political figures tend to take some of the public focus away from the more powerful.

Anyways, I have an alternative democracy. I have created the position of the "advisor", who has very limited power, but lots of respect. Maybe this advisor will serve a similar purpose as a our non-elected member of government.
