I don't think racism explains everything. If we put 1000 white people on a deserted island, they will find someway to divide themselves into haves and have not. My hypothesis is that humans have a strong instinct to have power and control over other humans. Race is only a convenient barrier to divide people.

2021's Trumpism is staying together because these people sense a re-ordering of American society is about to happen. They want to be on the "right" side of that change. When they can put the other side in a lower position, they will be "uplifted."

It is letting go of this power accumulation instinct is what we really have to master.
