But it is similar to that of my uncle. He was fighting for the Canadians in the battle of Ortega. Somehow he got separated from his unit in a forest. He encountered a young German soldier in the same situation. Both had loaded rifles. They kind of looked at each other and somehow--without saying a word--they agreed to back off. I can only imagine the emotion going through the minds of these two young men.
