Throughout my five-year Medium sojourn, I have written articles about the soft-support voters. These are the voters who do have a preference for a candidate or party, but--for whatever reason--are not that committed to vote. They need encouragement--and election campaigns are designed to target the minds of the soft-support voters.
Medium readers don't seem to like these articles. In their world, all voters are very committed. But in reality, elections are decided by fickle voters, who wavered between casting or not casting a ballot. I get very little accolades for my "soft-support" theories (which are more factual than theory).
The Democrats lost 20m soft support voters from 2020. It's easy to say now that the Democrats made a bad call on the field, and Medium writers are jumping over each other for the reasons for the loss. But these reasons are not unified in any way.
The system is indeed corrupt. It needs to be changed out. But it has also inculcated citizens that it cannot be changed out.
