To me, the delay in prosecution is understandable. Whether we like it or not, there are prevailing social winds around these prosecutions, much bigger than all other criminal cases. The prosecutions needed to be as "air-tight" as possible, which requires more funding and time to make them that way. A courtroom that shows shoddy preparation of evidence or procedure would ignite that social wind.

From what I can see, the various prosecution teams have been on overkill to get their cases right. Nothing has been thrown out, which is testament to the detail put into these cases. It also helps the defense is a buffoon in the courtroom.

A 100% conviction rate will not stop the social wind. That will take another decade. But it is possible that a few percentage points of MAGA just might not vote in November. And maybe the many guilty verdicts will convince some non-voters to make a trip to the polls.

Guilty verdicts in these months will be useful to get the temporary political result the USA needs.

But the ultimate solution is build a new democracy. If not, then the USA gets to do this all over again.
