To refresh, I went to the Wiki article on the 2000 election.

What surprised was how difficult it was to do the recounts (by hand). This seemed to have affected the actions of the federal and state courts.
The whole drama was rife with partisan workers trying to find a little legal or not-so-legal advantage to tilt the results their way.
When we have a recount in Canada, it is settled within a week.
History should not be written on partisan manipulation and partisan judges.
The USA needs a new way.
