Joe Biden did not win by a wide margin. A high school basketball game that went 81-74 would be called a pretty close game.

Mr. Manchin is a D in a red state. So he is behaving like an R to stay elected. Seems logical to me.

Ms. Sinema should have been better vetted out by the people who worked for her election. They got played.

Both Manchin and Sinema are using their leverage to their advantage. Them's the rules. The two rogues would have zero leverage if the Senate was 55D/45R. The D's should have won more Senate seats.

But all this could be avoided if 1% of Americans start building a new kind of democracy.

This new democracy might get rid of all the side deals many politicians seem to have.
