Umair. Maybe I have been one of your critics.
When I joined Medium in April 2019, you were a constant item on my feed. So I read your work. But it seemed I was reading the same thing over and over again. I got tired of being warned, especially with no calls for action to go with these warnings. Not much has changed in the past five years of warnings.
But behind your daily rants, you had some wonderful essays on eudainomics, great ideas on how to restructure the world. I bet most of your fans have not read this part of Umair.
In February, I published a series on a new business model (the spolu), basically an advanced co-operative, where profits are handled much more humanistically, To me, this is a possible solution to mitigate the excesses of the corporate world.
The spolu did not go far on Medium. But I was not surprised. Had I written a series about how bad the corporations are, that series would have done much better.
My take is that Medium readers want to complain and blame, not work for solutions, (like your eudainomics).
To help save the world, I joined a political party in 1986. In 1992, I quit. Life inside a political party is very dysfunctional, and this dysfunction spreads into governance and general society. I could not change things in this forum.
But somehow I invented another system of governance that deals with all this internal dysfunction. The TDG is my solution. I believe I have engaged with 5000 people on Medium. The TDG has gone nowhere.
People want to hear blaming and complaining instead of solutions. My TDG, my spolu, your eudainomics--get cast aside too easily. But that is the psychological state we are in.
Most of the people reading your work already know there is something wrong. But they are too paralyzed too look at new ways.
