Unfortunately, our political systems are incapable of sorting out these decisions--to get out the messes treated a decade or two ago. We have been jumping from one frying pan into another, especially with the Israel/Palestine situation.

We need a new system. A kinder, wiser democracy. A democracy that will not be---or perceived to be--- full of vested interests.

Until then, expect more geopolitical situations where mediation is likely not to succeed.
