Unfortunately, the Trump cases cannot be prosecuted in the same way as your average convenience store robber or corporate CEO doctoring financial statements. There is a big political component to what the prosecutors can and cannot do.

The prosecutors must build an air-tight case. This means more time and resources are required to better ensure a "guilty verdict." A major goal is to placate the MAGA base as much as possible for this outcome. While the placation might be insignificant to the political course the USA seems to be following, a guilty verdict is a better outcome than non-guilty or an acquittal. Likewise, not trying to follow the rule of law because civil unrest is possible is also not a good path. In other words, I'm not seeing a good outcome regardless of how these cases plays out.

What seems to be missing from this discussion is why Mr. Trump acquired high office in the first place. I have a solution for that, but few want to hear about that.

To me, the immediate future of the USA is dependent on Mr. Trump's fear of using prison toilets. If he overcomes this fear . . . . .
