Vesa: I went to the article. There was a brief sentence that suggested ethanol was better for the environment, but I'm not convinced. I would like to see some studies on this topic. There probably a few out there, but I can't afford the time to dig them up.
And then, I would question the extra cost of implementing ethanol into gasoline. Is this good or bad for the overall economics? I don't know.
But I do know the original reasons for implementing ethanol into gasoline were not environmental. And there are vested interests that would not want to reverse this trend--if it is indeed bad trend.
I consider both Mr. Trudeau and Mr. Harper as masterful players of politics. Both were able to get things done while in office. Whether I agree with them or not is another matter, but they handled their time in office fairly honorable (if we can excuse the empty election promises, which are inevitable). Unfortunately, our electoral processes do not find these players on a consistent basis.
