We are so screwed up because of our definition of "pursuit of happiness."
I've had to take on this journey. I'm not sure that I'm completely cured. But I'm better. And yes, I can recognize a compromised character. Many of us belong to the "walking wounded."

In my second novel, the main character was a young lady who took on a promiscuous lifestyle--mostly because the young people she associated with were already in this lifestyle. The book sees her moving her values from "fun" to "service"--but not being an overachiever.
The book gives the impression of coming from a good family. But I'm wondering if I should give a few minor arcs that all was not well.
I'll have to think about a little rewriting.
