We could say that a 36% vote proves a resounding loss. But 36% still believe in a crackpot candidate and that the election was rigged. Democracy no longer serves their interests.

36% was the level of popular support for the War of Independence. It was enough to break British colonialism. This war was not started with majority support, let alone a substantial majority.

This election was not a victory.
