This phrase below really struck me:
"if my people get the right to vote for who they want to represent them."
In the USA, the people only have two choices: the R ticket or the D ticket. We can only choose who the parties have proffered up as names.
In many places in the USA, it is often obvious which party is going to win the general election. A fencepost could win such an election. So the party primaries are actually more important then the general election. Who votes in the primaries? Maybe 10% of the population? Is this really a democracy?
You know I have a solution for this paradox. Maybe it's time for some people to build a new democracy rather than bend this older version, which doesn't seem to be working so well.
