I will acknowledge that strategic voting is a problem with Canadian politics: many voters want to a cast a vote for a winner--and casting a voter for loser is like giving the bigger evil a victory. Ranked voting can eliminate a lot of that, but it brings in voter fatigue again. Under a PR system, many voters would feel more comfortable voting for the NDP or Greens (as opposed to Liberal), showing that Canada is more left-wing than it currently shows--and maybe that is why our economics/social structures is similar to western Europe--despite our Westminster system.

Quebec is an interesting situation. Historically, it has usually finds most on its MPs to the government side. These voters seem politically astute. But several times, they have sent quasi-separatists (even once being the official opposition).

It is still a mystery why people want change, but reject it when it is offered to them.
