Well, that's not my anecdotal observations. I have a few stories about the language divide in my 2006 visit.

This language divide was well documented in The Economist. Ethnic Russians in the Baltics, Moldova, and Ukraine were clamoring for return to the Soviet Union. They were being stoked by Moscow to agitate for Russian rights. The more Russian areas of Ukraine were agitating a lot more.

I doubt this is an invention of Russian trolls.
