Well you brought back memories of being door-to-door evangelized.

I was in my late 20s, looking for a girlfriend. Knock on my door. A guy about 50. And a young lady with big breasts, tight sweater, and revealing cleavage. They were selling Jesus for some version of the Bapist Church. They had a captive audience, but I couldn't focus on what they were saying. I could not stop looking at her tits. But that was a younger Dave.

I used to do door-to-door political canvassing. I sometimes met a political enemy or an apathetic voter. It was obvious they did not want me to bother them, but were reasonable polite. Today's political canvassers probably get a lot of abuse.

And I was in oilfield sales. Lots of rejection. It took me about two years to turn a prospect into a customer.

Most of these people are trying to make a living.

Life circumstances are such that a free-lance technical writer seems to be the best occupation for me. I have done this before, but it is not conducive to a middle-class living.
